Iso Propyl Alcohol (IPA)

ISO PROPYL ALCOHOL

CAS NUMBER: 67-63-0

SYNONYMS: Isopropanol, 2-Propanol, Propan-2-ol, Rubbing Alcohol, Sec-Propyl Alcohol

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), also called 2-propanol or commonly known as IPA, one of the most common members of the alcohol family of organic compounds. It is a colorless, flammable chemical compound with a strong odor.

IPA dissolves a wide range of non-polar compounds. It evaporates quickly, leaving nearly zero oil traces, compared to ethanol, and is relatively non-toxic, compared to alternative solvents.

APPLICATION:

Isopropyl Alcohol is used as solvent for coatings or for industrial processes and it is even used for DNA Extractions for lab applications.

IPA is also commonly used in the manufacture of a wide variety of industrial, pharmaceutical and household chemicals, such as antiseptics, disinfectants, detergents, rubbing alcohol, aftershaved lotions, hand sanitizers, disinfecting pads and cosmetics.

Iso Propyl Alcohol is also an excellent cleaning solvent as it is not toxic.

Isopropyl alcohol is a major ingredient in “gas dryer” fuel additives as it solubilize the water in gasoline and the soluble water no longer accumulates in the supply lines and freezes, but is consumed with the fuel itself.

IPA is also used for windshield and door lock deicer in countries with Winter season.

Packaging: Bulk, Drum, IBC, Pail
