MONO PROPYLENE GLYCOL (MPG) (INDUSTRIAL GRADE)

MONO PROPYLENE GLYCOL (MPG) (INDUSTRIAL GRADE)

CAS NUMBER: 57-55-6

Mono propylene glycol (industrial grade) is a clear, colourless, and viscous liquid.

It is soluble in water, and has hygroscopic properties.

It has limited miscibility with halogenated hydrocarbons and is not miscible with aliphatic hydrocarbons.

Excellent humectant, Solvent, Carrier, Natural preservative effects, wetting agent, lubricant, Freezing point depressant

APPLICATION:

There are many uses for Mono Propylene Glycol across many different industries and some chemical manufacturers produce two grades of MPG to meet these varied needs.

The Industrial grade is used in many industrial applications.

MPG can be used in heat transfer liquids for Chillers, and it is used in Engine Oil CoolantHydraulic Fluids and other application in antifreeze and aircraft wing and runway de-icer.

It acts as a lubricant for the processing equipment – When used in concentrations as low as 1-2 percent, it helps
prolong pellet mill die life and reduces cleaning time intervals and power consumption.

The most important end use of MPG industrial grade is in the production of unsaturated polyester resins, which, in turn, are used to make everyday items such as bath tubs, small boats and water/chemical tanks and pipes.

Propylene Glycol is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of high performance unsaturated polyester resins used in paints and  varnishes.  It is also an excellent solvent that is utilised in printing inks, Paints and Coatings and it is also used in the manufacture of non-ionic detergents which are used in the petroleum, sugar-refining, and paper making industries.
