DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL (DPG)

Dipropylene Glycol (DPG) is a mixture of three isomeric chemical compounds, 4-oxa-2,6-heptandiol, 2–propan-1-ol, and 2–propan-1-ol.

It is a colorless, nearly odorless liquid with a high boiling point, low evaporation rate and low toxicity.  DPG is fully miscible in water and is also miscible with many organic solvents.

APPLICATION:

Di Propylene Glycol (DPG) finds use as a chemical intermediate across a range of industries.

The main commercial uses :

  • Chemical intermediate in the manufacture of high performance, unsaturated polyester resins, polyurethanes,
    and plasticizers
  • Hydraulic brake-fluid formulations
  • Cutting-oil formulations
  • Textile lubricants
  • Coatings, paints
  • Industrial soaps
  • Solvents for agricultural chemicals, insecticides, and inks
  • Latex paint formulations, for freeze/thaw protection
  • DPG functions as a solvent, humectant, and coupling agent for fragrance and cosmetic/personal-care items, such as perfumes, skincare products, deodorants, haircare products, and many others.
